Yoga is for every body β you don't need to be flexible, fit or experienced to begin. These seven beginner-friendly poses gently build flexibility, strength and calm. Move slowly, breathe steadily, and never push into pain.
Before You Start
Find a quiet space and a non-slip surface. Wear comfortable clothes. Warm up with a few easy stretches, and remember: yoga is about how the pose feels, not how it looks.
Seven Gentle Poses
- Mountain Pose (Tadasana) β stand tall and grounded; great for posture and focus.
- CatβCow β on hands and knees, gently arch and round your back with your breath.
- Child's Pose (Balasana) β a restful, calming stretch for the back.
- Downward Dog β an energising stretch for the whole body.
- Cobra Pose β a gentle backbend to open the chest.
- Seated Forward Bend β a calming stretch for the back of the legs.
- Corpse Pose (Savasana) β lie still and relax to finish.
Breathe Through It
Let your breath lead the movement β slow, steady inhales and exhales. If you ever feel strain, ease off. Over time, small, regular sessions build real flexibility and calm.
π§ Tip: Even 10 minutes a day is enough to begin. Consistency matters more than length.
Listen to your body, go at your own pace, and enjoy the practice. If you have an injury or health condition, check with a professional before starting.
